Change happens when parents ask.

Kids should always be able to wash their hands. And parents should never have to lift their kids to the sink.Retailers know they can do better, but they set priorities based on customer feedback.

How this works

When you fill out the form, an Accessible Handwashing Initiative team member will call the selected store closest to your zip code to ask the store manager to provide child-friendly handwashing at their store. We'll also send a handwritten letter to the store manager on your behalf!

These are the stores where Step 'n Wash is most commonly requested, but you can tell us who else to contact in the box below.

Do even more.

How to help

Nothing beats an in-person conversation. The best thing you can do is have a friendly conversation with your local store manager.Tell them how much you and other parents would appreciate a safe step stool or a lowered sink in the restroom, and mention how other stores like Target, Home Depot, and Olive Garden provide Step 'n Wash stools.Want to step it up? Download this guide for store managers, print a copy, and share it during your conversation.

Social media

The most impactful thing you can do on social media is share a picture of the struggle. Have a friend snap a picture of you hoisting your child to the sink, or share a picture of the messy aftermath.Don't forget to tag the store where you want to see a change!

About the initiative

The Accessible Handwashing Initiative was formed by Step 'n Wash to address two sides of an issue that we see almost every day.We hear from thousands of parents every year who say things like, "this product should be everywhere"!When we talk to retail executives, they agree that accessible handwashing is a problem in their stores. In fact, most have Step 'n Wash on their list of future projects. But that "list of projects" might be 150 items long. Executives tell us time and time again that they will prioritize accessible handwashing when their customers start to ask for it.We formed The Accessible Handwashing Initiative to help connect the dots between parents and retail executives.

Isn't this a little bit self-serving?

It's more than a "little bit" self-serving! Step 'n Wash manufactures the most popular installed step stool for commercial restrooms. But we're not a faceless corporation; we're parents who struggle to wash our own kids' hands and this is a problem we want solved. The Accessible Handwashing Initiative doesn't just recommend Step 'n Wash products. Our guide for store managers provides numerous ways to make handwashing better for families - but it would be dishonest to ignore our own self-interest in promoting accessible handwashing.
